Roshan Soni is working as the Principal at M.L. Memorial School. Our school is located in a slum area, where we encourage children from underprivileged backgrounds to pursue education. We help the children fill out forms and ensure that students up to Class 5 are able to appear for their examinations. I have been engaged in social work in this area for the past 20 years.
I am also an active member of the Seva Bharti Saket Mandal. We regularly visit slum areas and work on education, moral values, cleanliness, and nutrition.
Under the banner of Seva Bharti, self-reliance groups are run. I form groups of domestic working women, train them in skills, help them find work, and support them in selling the items they create.
Through these groups, work such as making bangles, papad, badi, pickles and spices, decorative items, cloth bags, and rakhi is carried out.
We market the products made by these women, and whatever profit is earned goes directly to the group members. In the slum areas, we also organize competitions for children and take them for picnics. During winter, we arrange sweaters, caps, dresses, notebooks, books, and stationery for needy children.
