"जलाते चलो ये दीये स्नेह भर-भर कभी तो धरा का अँधेरा मिटेगा"
Respected social worker, the late Dadi Saraswati Babani ji, was born in a middle-class family in Pakistan. During the Partition of India in 1947, her family was displaced from Pakistan and settled in Bhopal. During that period, she lived in the CRP area. After her marriage, while raising her own children, she devoted herself to nurturing and educating the children in her family.
Even at the age of 91, during the COVID period, she personally cooked food for daily-wage workers, packed it, and delivered it to them with her own hands. Being deeply connected to Bhopal, Dadi noticed that many young children were deprived of education due to family problems. Therefore, in 2023, she adopted two Anganwadi centers in Bairagarh, renovated and beautified them.
Along with this, near the CRP area of Bairagarh, there was a slum where children used to collect plastic and waste. For their better future, she started a free coaching center there. At present, more than 30 children from that area—who earlier picked up waste and were involved in addictions—are now happily going to school in uniform.
This social work continued even after Dadi ji’s passing in 2024. Today, in her memory, children are running many projects to educate the underprivileged children of Bhopal.
